39 DAYS TO PENTECOST

TEXT: GENESIS 1:1-5
1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

KEY TEXT: Genesis 1:3  "...And the Spirit of God moved... '

THE SPIRIT OF GOD is first mentioned in the second verse of Genesis.

Before the Spirit moved, the earth was without form.
Before the Spirit moved, the earth was void.
Before the Spirit moved, there was darkness on the face of the deep.

Then the SPIRIT moved.  Literally, the Spirit of God brooded over the face of the waters.

When the SPIRIT, the FIRST MOVER, moved, chaos was turned to order--or "cosmos." The signature of the SPIRIT is not pandemonium, rather it is order. In the New Testament we read, "God is not the author of confusion."  And He is not.

The Scriptures reveal that power, purpose, and production are characteristic of the SPIRIT.

Just as the Spirit brooded over the chaos of our planet, He broods over the souls of those seek after Him.  Just as He brought form and filling and light to earth, so He brings form and filling and light to the chaotic souls of lost men.

"THE SPIRIT MOVED." Oh that He would move in our hearts today.

Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.
Melt us, mold us, fill us, use us,
Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on us.

PRAYER: Our Father, we come to Thee in the name above every name, the name of Jesus of Nazareth. We pray that the Holy Spirit would brood in our hearts.  We pray that the Holy Spirit would move in our lives.  We pray that the Holy Spirit would witness to our spirits.  We pray that you would set right all that is out of order in our lives.  We pray that you would fill every void in our hearts.  And we pray that you would direct us moment by moment.  For that you have done, are doing, and are going to do, we give you the Highest Praise.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.  “Our Father, &c.”
